Roy Beck is a United States citizen concerned about the environment. He is the CEO of NumbersUSA, an advocacy and grassroots activism group that opposes large-scale immigration mainly on grounds of the numbers, rather than the characteristics, of immigrants. One of the chief concerns of Beck and NumbersUSA is overpopulation and the consequent environmental degradation in a US-specific context.
Roy Beck is famous for a “gumballs video” which has been critiqued at many places:
- Roy Beck unwittingly makes the case for open borders, a blog post by Vipul Naik for Open Borders, March 20, 2012.
- Responding to the Gumball Video, a blog post by Expected Optimism, June 24, 2011.
- When Numeracy Misleads, a blog post by David Henderson for EconLog, December 21, 2010.
- The Other Problems with Roy Beck on Immigration, a blog post by David Henderson for EconLog, December 23, 2010.
